” Baby Boomers ” will remember the Crystal Set Radio. It was the earliest form of radio. It worked with the frequency of the radio signal being controlled by a crystal in contact with a fine wire.

Many a rainy afternoon was spent in the bedroom getting the crystal set to work .
It gave hours of pleasure , was simple to make and proved a very ingenious DIY project for many an enthusiast.
The crystal set was merely a box with a crystal inside that contacted a wire and the radio broadcast could be heard. It wasn’t elaborate but good old fashioned fun . The crystal set was easy to make , worked , was cheap and parts to make it were easily accessible.

Favourite radio serials were listened to and it became a great source of early broadcast entertainment . Provided a precursor to the phenomena of TV .
